✈️ Blackbushe Air Day is Back – Saturday 14 June!

One of Surrey’s most exciting family days out is back as Blackbushe Air Day returns on Saturday 14 June, and it’s shaping up to be a real crowd-pleaser.

Expect over 100 aircraft on static display (no flying show, but still plenty of sky-high excitement), plus 200 classic cars, a Battle of Britain flypast with a Lancaster and Dakota, and a taxiway parade at 4pm that’ll have petrolheads swooning.

Feeling adventurous? You can book a pleasure flight on a vintage Dragon Rapide, an R44 helicopter, or take on a Boeing 737 simulator landing challenge—because why not?

🎡 Other highlights include:

  • Food vans, a BBQ and the Pathfinder Café keeping you fuelled

  • Live music, bouncy castles, ride-on mini planes and family fun

  • A brilliant Aerobility Zone, packed with games and ways to support a great cause

The Digest 🗞️😀

From Silver Screen to Sunday Service? Weybridge Hall could soon have a second act—not as a cinema, but as a new home for Equippers Church: The once-glitzy 1920s picture house has stood empty since 2014, but was bought by the church group for £1.2 million last November. Now they’re hoping to turn it into a multi-use community and worship space. While some residents have raised eyebrows, citing a preference for a cinema or youth venue, the council's planning officers are backing the proposal, saying it would keep the building in use and open it up to local schools and groups too. 🎥⛪

A brand new NHS Community Diagnostics Centre is opening this summer in Redhill’s Belfry Shopping Centre, and it’s set to transform healthcare access across Surrey and Sussex: The centre will offer quick, direct-to-patient tests like X-rays, ultrasounds, ECGs, and bloodwork, operating 12 hours a day, seven days a week. With an expected 40,000 tests in its first year, it’ll save thousands of trips to East Surrey Hospital and help speed up diagnosis and treatment for conditions like cancer. A serious health boost, right in the middle of the shops. 🏥🛍️

Big news for bargain hunters in Walton-on-Thames: Lidl has its sights set on a brand-new store on New Zealand Avenue, taking over the old Homebase site: If approved, the multi-million-pound development will bring 40 new jobs, 20 apartments (including affordable homes), and plenty of eco-friendly extras like EV chargers, solar panels, and bike bays. Locals can check out the plans at a consultation event on 17 June at Walton Cricket Club. 🏗️⚡

Weather

Monday

19° 🌡️ 13° | ⛅ | Bit of a mixed bag to start the week, some sunny spells poking through but plenty of cloud hanging about. Not cold though, so still worth a lunchtime wander, and not as bad as it was on Saturday!!

Tuesday

21° 🌡️ 12° | ☁️ | Overcast skies sticking around most of the day. There’s a tiny, tiny chance of some rain in the middle of the afternoon, which has the potential to feel quite humid on Tuesday - very high pollen!

Wednesday

24° 🌡️ 15° | ⛅ | Now we’re talking. Warm, brighter, and feeling very summery. Might be a good excuse for an evening stroll or cheeky pint in the garden - definitely a reason to get outside for lunch.

Thursday

25° 🌡️ 14° | 🌧️ | Classic British twist. Just as the sun gets going, the rain invites itself over. Warm but wet, so brollies at the ready, let’s hope the rains out of the way before we hit the weekend.

Thank you! 👍
