What’s on Guide for this week 📅
Let’s get to it.

🏍️ Motorcycle Day at Brooklands: Old School Meets Supercharged!

🗓️ Sunday 6 July, 10:00am–5:00pm
📍 Brooklands Museum, Weybridge
🎟️ Adults from £24 | Members go free | Free parking available
If you’re into classic bikes, modern superbikes, or just enjoy the buzz of a great day out, Motorcycle Day is returning to Brooklands and it's set to be a big one. The historic site will be packed with two-wheeled legends from across the decades — from vintage racers to today’s cutting-edge machines — plus plenty of action, sound, and style to keep non-riders entertained too.
The iconic Test Hill will be roaring to life, giving visitors a chance to watch (or join) as bikes old and new take on its steep incline. It’s a proper crowd-pleaser and a rare chance to see these machines pushed to their limits.
There’ll also be food stalls, live music, club displays, and access to all the usual Brooklands favourites — including the Concorde, the London Bus Museum, and interactive exhibits covering over a century of motorsport and aviation history.
🛵 Here’s what’s revving up on the day:
A dazzling display of classic bikes and modern beasts
Food stalls, live music, and biker banter galore
Test Hill in action: vintage vs. modern bikes, head-to-head
The chance to ride your own bike up Test Hill (book on the day!)
Special club rates for group bookings (£19.99 per person)
Traders, merch, and motorcycle magic on every corner
And don’t forget — your ticket includes full access to Brooklands Museum, so once you’ve had your fill of chrome and chains, you can…
✈️ Step aboard Concorde
🚌 Explore the London Bus Museum
🎮 Try out the simulators
🏁 Wander the world’s first purpose-built race track
It’s one of the loudest, proudest days in the Brooklands calendar. Whether you ride a Harley, a Honda, or just a rusty pushbike, you’re welcome.
👉 Book your tickets here or join as a member from £63 and come to events like this all year round!

🗓️ Friday 4 – Sunday 6 July 2025
📍 Capel, Surrey

Tanks. Chinooks. Car crushing. And yes — big guns being fired. The Capel Military Show is back this July for a full-throttle weekend of military might, family fun, and live-action history.
Whether you’re into wartime vehicles, roaring battle reenactments or just fancy climbing into a tank with the kids, this is one of Surrey’s most jaw-dropping summer events.
💥 What to Expect:
Huge military vehicle displays and living history exhibits
Reenactments with real explosions (ear defenders encouraged!)
Epic East vs West tug-of-war
Kids Zone with inflatables, mini tanks, climbing walls, and laser tag
Food trucks, fresh coffee, ice cream, and a licensed bar
Free parking and dog-friendly (just keep them on a lead)
Evening entertainment included with entry
The show also welcomes back the mighty RAF Chinook helicopter (subject to confirmation), plus a whole fleet of visiting aircraft.
All profits go toward military charities and local community projects — so while you're enjoying tanks and tug-of-war, you're also helping good causes.

The Digest 🗞️😀
One of Guildford’s favourite summer spots is still off-limits — and no one knows when it’ll be back: Stoke Park’s paddling pool was meant to open at the end of May, but a month on, Guildford Borough Council still hasn’t confirmed a reopening date. Despite recent resurfacing works, water tests are showing high combined chlorine levels, meaning the chlorine isn't doing its job properly. Until the balance is right, the gates stay shut. Safety comes first, of course, but it’s a real blow for families hoping to cool off during this heatwave. 🌡️🚫
The University of Surrey is getting a new leader this autumn, and he’s got serious tech credentials: Professor Stephen Jarvis, a top expert in data science and AI, will take over as president and vice-chancellor after a stint as provost at the University of Birmingham. He’s also one of the founding minds behind The Alan Turing Institute. Big shoes to fill after Professor Max Lu’s departure, but with AI reshaping the world, Jarvis might be just the brain Surrey needs at the helm. 🎓💻
A huge chapeau to the 13 brave cyclists who pedalled their way from East Clandon to the Eiffel Tower in just under 24 hours! The team covered 280km in an epic effort to raise money for Cherry Trees, the Surrey charity supporting children with disabilities. Battling heat, punctures, broken bike bits and barely any sleep, they still managed to cross the finish line in style, raising over £19,000 in the process. Now that’s what you call a Tour de Force. 🚴♂️🇫🇷

Weather
Monday
32° 🌡️ 17° | ☀️ | The heat is on. A proper scorcher today with wall-to-wall sunshine, barely a breeze, and UV levels through the roof. Definitely not the day to mow the lawn at noon, find a shady spot, drink lots of water, and pretend it’s a Mediterranean holiday.
Tuesday
30° 🌡️ 15° | ☀️ | Still sizzling, but with slightly less intensity. Another glorious summer day on tap, perfect for al fresco everything. Just don’t forget the sunscreen unless you’re going for that lobster look.
Wednesday
25° 🌡️ 12° | 🌦️ | Bit of a plot twist, temperatures dip and a few showers roll in. Not a washout, but you’ll want a brolly on standby. The garden will be thrilled. You? Maybe less so.
Thursday
23° 🌡️ 12° | 🌦️ | A cooler, breezier day with on-and-off light rain. Feels like summer’s taking a tea break. Still warm enough for a walk, just maybe swap the sandals for something splash-resistant.

Thank you! 👍
