McLaren Racing Takes Over Woking This Half-Term! 🏁🏎️

If you're a motorsport fan—or just fancy an excuse to pretend you’re Lando Norris for the day—McLaren Racing is bringing the F1 buzz to Woking from Wednesday, February 19th, to Sunday, February 23rd.

To celebrate their 2024 Constructors’ Championship, McLaren is setting up shop in Henry Plaza, where you can get up close with their brand-new 2025 F1 car, fresh from its global reveal. No VIP pass required.

But it's not just for looking—there’s plenty to get stuck into. Test your reaction speed, hop into a racing simulator, or if you really want to feel like part of the team, have a go at the pit stop challenge (just without the pressure of a million people watching on TV).

Whether you're a die-hard F1 fan or just looking for something fun to do this half-term, this free event is worth checking out. Who knows, maybe you’ll discover your hidden talent for changing tyres at lightning speed.

Family Silent Disco at Farnham Maltings – Dance Like No One’s Listening! 🎧

HMS Pinafore Fundraiser for St Mary’s Spire Restoration! 🎭

Caterham’s St Mary’s Church Spire is in need of restoration, and what better way to support the cause than with a Gilbert and Sullivan classic? 🎭

On Saturday, March 1st, Utopians Unlimited will take to the stage at St Mary’s Church for a special performance of HMS Pinafore, with all proceeds going towards the spire’s restoration.

Expect an evening of witty lyrics, catchy tunes, and a bit of Victorian-era satire—all for a great cause.

Doors open at 6:45 PM, with the show starting at 7:30 PM, so grab your tickets and enjoy a night of theatre while helping preserve a local landmark. ⚓🎶

Surrey's grass is getting an early trim: Surrey County Council has announced that its grass-cutting programme will kick off three weeks early, starting the week of 17th February. An extra £1.5m investment will help tackle unruly greenery across the county, aiming to keep roads and pathways safer for everyone. With new contractors on board and a beefed-up workforce, expect tidier verges, fewer weeds, and even some freshly cleaned road signs. Here’s to a neater, greener Surrey! 🚜🌿

Tilly the cat is proving she’s got places to be: The adventurous feline from Weybridge managed to hop on a train and take herself on a solo trip to London Waterloo, much to the surprise of her owner, Michael Hardy. No stranger to a bit of independent travel (she’s already been on buses and even behind the bar at the local pub), Tilly was eventually tracked down thanks to her Apple AirTag. Luckily, Hardy was already in London and swung by to collect his unexpected commuter. Next time, she might just need an Oyster card! 🎟️😹

Big changes could be coming to Stoke D'Abernon, as proposals for around 250 new homes aim to significantly expand the 1,800-strong village: The 10.7-hectare green belt site near Blundel Lane has been earmarked for development for years, but not everyone is on board. Nearly 300 objections have been sent to Elmbridge Borough Council, with concerns about traffic, infrastructure strain, and the loss of the village’s semi-rural charm. Developers promise green spaces and wildlife-friendly areas, but whether that’s enough to win over residents remains to be seen. 🚧🏡
