Tucked away in the Surrey countryside, Watts Gallery – Artist’s Village is a little slice of magic.
The gardens are completely free to wander, with a woodland play area and a fairy door trail to keep the kids (and let’s be honest, the grown-ups too) entertained.
There’s also a lovely café, a shop full of unique finds, and plenty of parking. And just down the road? The breathtaking Watts Chapel—a must-see spot that looks straight out of a storybook!

🏡End of the Line: Haslemere’s Historic Signal Box Faces Its Final Stop 🚂🔔

For 130 years, the Haslemere Signal Box has quietly kept Surrey’s railways running, its giant levers directing trains through countless journeys.
But now, its time is nearly up. In November, its operations will move to Basingstoke, marking the end of an era for this piece of railway history.
Signal operators like Gary Pannell—who has spent long nights and early mornings ensuring smooth journeys—are sad to see it go, but efforts are underway to preserve the Grade II listed box as a visitor attraction.
The tracks may move forward, but this little piece of history won’t be forgotten. 🚂🔔

The Digest 🗞️😀
Surrey’s Rock Choir is hitting all the right notes for Comic Relief this year: Led by choir master Tom George, the Farnham, Godalming, and Guildford groups will be spreading joy with flash mobs in Woking, Redhill, and Guildford before heading to Manchester to perform their brand-new charity single—a heartfelt cover of Somewhere Only We Know. With more than 30,000 members nationwide, Rock Choir isn’t just about music—it’s about community, charity, and making a difference. If you spot them this Saturday, stop, sing along, and show some love for a great cause! ❤️🎤
Surrey rail passengers, brace yourselves for a weekend of disruption: Engineering works between Battersea and Clapham Junction mean altered services and rail replacement buses across Woking, Guildford, and beyond this Saturday and Sunday. South Western Railway says the short-term pain will lead to a "more reliable railway"—but if you're travelling, check before you go unless you fancy an unexpected bus tour of Surrey! With more maintenance planned next weekend too, it might be time to get reacquainted with your walking shoes… or just stay home! 🚌😩
Hidden away in a quiet Cranleigh back garden is one of the most bizarre and fascinating private museums in the country: Run by 71-year-old Charles Brooking, this treasure trove is packed with architectural relics from places like Windsor Castle, the Tower of London, and even a potentially haunted door from Guildford’s Abbot’s Hospital—so eerie that one woman reportedly quit her job after encountering it! From burnt royal antiques to rare staircases, Charles’ collection is a goldmine for history buffs and architects alike. Some might call it madness, but for Charles, it’s just "great fun!" 🏰👻
