A Day At The Horses & Family Fun -What a Combo! 🏇🎉
Right, going forward I’m going to try and give you a bit more notice on the best events that are heading our way in Surrey, and the first on that list is Family Festival Friday at Sandown on the 30th August!
What a way to wrap up the summer (if the weather holds out!).
Everyone know’s what to expect on race day, it’s always a fun day, especially if lady luck decides you’re on her good side that day - but add in some family fun, and we’re really cooking!
There's something for everyone, from bouncy castles and face painting to garden games and arts and crafts. Plus, don't miss the exciting Shetland Pony Solario Stakes races - and don’t forget the regular racing!
Tickets are £22 for adults, kids go free - as long as they’re with an adult!
There’s a few hospitality options, but tickets are going quick.
Grab your tickets here: https://www.thejockeyclub.co.uk/sandown/events-tickets/afternoon-racing-august/ - and I might see you down there!

Beer Festivals Galore This Bank Holiday Weekend! 🍻
I haven’t just got 1 beer festival for you, I’ve got 2 - well, I don’t, but The Surrey Oaks in Dorking and B Side near Redhill do!
The B Side & Beer Festival is the only brewery-based music festival that gives independent artists their spotlight!
Going since 2020, they are all about supporting indie musicians, and their festival is a big part of that mission. Last year, they rocked Wimbledon Brewery with 28 incredible acts, and this year, we’re raising the bar even higher - it’s Redhill’s turn!
The headliners this year are Holler on Saturday and the energetic Dakka Skanks on Sunday - both fantastic acts!
📅 When: 24th-25th August, for two full days of music, food, and drinks!
📍 Where: By The Horns Brewery, Salbrook Road Industrial Estate, Redhill. It's just a 6-minute walk from Salfords train station. Limited parking is available, so I recommend taking public transport if you can.
Get your tickets here!
and not to forget The Surrey Oaks Beer Festival!
Over four beer-fueled days, they have arranged packed lineup of great bands, an outdoor beer tent featuring a massive selection of beers from across the UK, and an outside bar serving all our favourites!
Plus, there is literally food galore: enjoy ice creams, waffles, and pancakes from Little Puddin, and don’t miss the Real Pizza Company serving up delicious pizzas on Saturday and Sunday nights.
📅 When: August 23rd at 5pm - August 26th at 7pm
📍 Where: The Surrey Oaks, Parkgate Road, Parkgate RH5 5DZ

Fly to Hatchlands Park with Peter Pan! 🌟
After the huuuuge success of "The Wizard of Oz," Immersion Theatre is back with possibly their most magical musical yet - Peter Pan!
Expect catchy tunes, tons of laughs, and non-stop fun, Peter Pan is one of those classics that never gets old.. pun intended!
The performance is due to last roughly 1 hour and 40 minutes, which includes the interval, and you’ll need to bring your own camping chairs and blankets, and don’t forget the picnic!
Rain or shine, the show goes on, so come prepared! Kids under 3 get in free, and carers get free entry too - sadly Dogs aren’t permitted 🐶
Tickets are only £14 and you can get yours here.
📅 When: 24th August, doors open at 5:30pm, the show starts at 6pm.
📍 Where: National Trust Hatchlands Park, Guildford, GU4 7RT
Don’t forget Music in the Meadow in Farnham on the 25th August!
The Digest 🗞️😀
Big news from Surrey County Council: Terence Herbert has officially taken the helm as the new chief executive. Terence comes with a wealth of experience from his time leading Wiltshire Council and has a strong background in children’s services and mental health. He admits there are some tough challenges ahead for local government, but he's excited to work alongside council members, staff, and partners to keep improving services for all of us in Surrey. Here's to new beginnings and HOPEFULLY positive changes for Surrey! 🙌🌲
The sun is setting on Surrey solar scheme: You’ve got until September 13th to sign up for the Solar Together Surrey scheme, a fantastic initiative from Surrey County Council and Solar Together. This program is all about boosting renewable energy, cutting carbon emissions, and helping you save on those energy bills. So far, 2,250 residents have already benefited by installing solar panels and battery storage, and now it’s your chance to join in. Registration is free, with no obligation to proceed, head over to https://solartogether.co.uk/surrey/home for more info and to get started. 🏡☀️
If you're looking to save on petrol in Surrey, head over to the Tesco garage on Reigate Road, Hookwood, in Mole Valley. It's currently the cheapest spot in the area, with petrol priced at 135.9p per litre. That means filling up an average family car will cost you around £79, a potential saving of up to £34 compared to the priciest station in the county. On average, petrol prices across Surrey sit at 143.8p per litre this week, so this Tesco is a real bargain. For diesel drivers, the Texaco in Waverley is your best bet, with prices as low as 142.9p per litre. Every penny counts, so keep these spots in mind next time you need to top up your tank! Click here to find out the other cheap petrol spots. 🚗💰
