Festive Glass Blowing Show & Shop – November 20th 🎄🔮

Ever wanted to see the magic behind creating those dazzling glass ornaments that make the holidays so special? Now is your chance!

Join Adam for the Festive Glass Blowing Show & Shop on Wednesday, November 20th, from 10 am to 1 pm at his glass studio in West Horsley.

The first date sold out in a flash, so make sure to grab your ticket for this newly added session, there’s only around 25 spots at the time of writing this, so if you fancy it, get it booked in!

What you can expect:

  • Ticket Price: £10, which is redeemable on any purchase on the day (except for the Lucky Dip). So it’s basically a ticket that doubles as a discount. 🎟️💸

  • Live Glass Blowing Demos: Watch talented glassblowers in action, crafting one-of-a-kind pieces that bring a unique sparkle to holiday decor.

  • Exclusive Holiday Shopping: Browse the studio’s stunning glass collection, perfect for memorable gifts or adding a handmade touch to your holiday setup. 🎁

👉 Location: Adam Aaronson Glass Studio, Foxbury Barn, Epsom Road, West Horsley, KT24 6AR (next to Squires Garden Centre)
⏰ Time: Wed 20th November 2024, 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

The studio can be a bit tricky to find:

  • From the East: Look for Squires Garden Centre on the right. The entrance to Foxbury is immediately after Squires and is a sharp right turn.

  • From the West: Spot the wooden footbridge over the road; Foxbury's entrance is the second driveway after. If you reach Squires, you’ve gone a tad too far.

The entrance is opposite Open View Farm, marked by small white posts, and the drive winds past Woodside (with solar panels) and Ashwood House (with a thatched roof) as you approach the studio.

Get ready to be wowed, charmed, and maybe a little toasty from that furnace heat. Book your spot today!

The Digest 🗞️😀

Surrey County Council’s former HQ in Kingston has been snapped up by luxury developer London Square, with plans underway for nearly 300 new homes on the historic 5.2-acre site: The Grade II-listed County Hall, a familiar landmark, will be transformed into “elegant homes,” according to London Square’s chief exec, Adam Lawrence, with residents expected to start moving in by 2027. The site, once sold to RER London for £25m, raised eyebrows for its comparatively low sale price, especially given its potential £250m value post-redevelopment. But council reps insist it was a “good deal,” citing the massive costs of planning and site improvements. 🏛️🏗️

Guildford’s most talked-about issue in decades has finally come to a close, with the rejection of a £6 million plan to improve pedestrian and cycling routes on the A3100 in Burpham: Despite backing from Surrey County Council's top environment and highways officials, concerns over safety led to the scheme’s downfall. Supporters, like Councillor George Potter, are left “bitterly disappointed,” calling the decision a “betrayal” of residents who’d hoped for safer walkways and cycle paths. On the other hand, councillors like Fiona Davidson argued that the proposed shared-use paths were simply too narrow to be safe for all, particularly the elderly and disabled. For now, the debate on Guildford’s streets remains a hot topic—without any major changes on the horizon. 🚲🚶‍♂️

Great news for Surrey’s Rural Life Living Museum in Tilford! After launching an ambitious £150,000 fundraising drive, the beloved open-air museum has hit its target, ensuring it can keep its doors open: Director Ed Fagan couldn’t be happier, describing himself as “grinning like the Cheshire cat” after reaching this milestone. Thanks to the generosity of over 2,500 donors, including contributions from individuals, parish councils, and local groups like the Surrey Street Rodders, the museum is safe for now. Visitors can continue exploring the 1950s playground, the old schoolroom, and other unique exhibits that capture everyday life from days gone by. 🏫🌳🧺
