Looking for a Saturday well spent?

Head to Guildford Cathedral on March 1st for the Craft & Flea Makers Market, where local artisans, crafters, and vintage collectors bring their best finds to town.

This is a chance to shop small and support independent businesses, with stalls packed full of handcrafted ceramics, unique jewellery, home decor, prints, candles, vintage clothing, and all sorts of one-off treasures you won’t find in big stores.

 🐾 Lions and Tigers and Bears – An Evening with Gordon Buchanan

If you love wildlife documentaries, this is one you won’t want to just watch—you’ll want to experience it live.

On Monday, March 10th, G Live Guildford welcomes award-winning wildlife photographer and filmmaker Gordon Buchanan for a night of jaw-dropping stories from the wild.

The government has thrown its support behind Gatwick’s second runway, but there’s turbulence ahead. Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander is “minded to approve” the expansion, provided noise reduction and public transport measures are in place. If the £2.2bn plan gets final approval in October, work could begin immediately, boosting capacity by 50,000 flights a year by the 2030s. Supporters see it as a win for holidaymakers and business travelers, while critics argue it will fuel air pollution and disrupt local communities. Buckle up—this debate is far from over! ✈️🌍

Surrey County Council has unveiled plans for a new recycling centre in Chertsey, hoping to ease pressure on the county’s overstretched waste facilities: The proposed site at Trumps Farm would sort materials more efficiently, with separate streams for metal, cardboard, plastic, and mixed recyclables. But with recycling rates stuck at around 50%, SCC leader Tim Oliver is urging residents to double-check what can and can’t be recycled. If approved in May 2025, the centre could help Surrey step up its green game—but only if people actually use it properly! ♻️🚛

This summer, Hampton Court Palace Festival is bringing out the big guns, with Sir Tom Jones, Gary Barlow, and 10cc set to take the stage in the palace’s stunning gardens: Running from June 11-21, the festival will also feature legends like Chaka Khan, Rag‘n’Bone Man, Elbow, and Bananarama—so whether you’re into classic rock, soul, or 80s pop, there’s something for everyone.
