Guildford Makers Market Is Back! 🛍️🎨

I know you all love a market, so I’ve dug out another one for you! Looking for that perfect, one-of-a-kind gift? Or maybe just a little treat for yourself? Head over to Holy Trinity Church in Guildford this Saturday for an unforgettable day of local shopping, hosted by Funyard Events!

Let’s Get Ready to Ramble! 🏞️🚶

Look at the size of that reservoir!

If you’ve ever wanted to stroll around the Queen Mary Sailing Club reservoir’s 4.2-mile perimeter—usually off-limits to the public—this is your chance!

Since 2017, over 5,000 wanderers have joined in, and now it’s your turn to lace up those walking shoes, breathe in the fresh air, and soak in the stunning views.

A big thank you to Thames Water for letting everyone enjoy this hidden gem for the day! 🙌

• Stunning Views: On a clear day, you can spot everything from Thorpe Park to the iconic Wembley Arch. 📸

• Tasty Treats: Claire Cooks Surrey will be there, serving up BBQ and refreshing drinks, so you can refuel mid-Ramble. 🌭🍹

• Feel-Good Fun: Your £7 ticket goes towards the Queen Mary Sailing Club Development Fund, supporting our local sailing community. Under 18s walk free, so bring the whole family! (Sorry, no pups allowed. 🐾)

🚶 Where: Around the reservoir (normally off-limits, so don’t miss this chance!)

Meet 10cc's Graham Gouldman in Dorking! 🎶

Calling all 10cc fans.. there is a treat for you next week!

Graham Gouldman and the current 10cc lineup will be at Spin Sounds in Dorking for a special album signing event.

Dorking will pay tribute to a slice of music history.

The unveiling of a blue plaque at Chartwood Place (the site of the legendary Strawberry Studios South) kicks things off at 11 AM. This is where members of 10cc set up shop back in 1976, and now it’s officially getting the recognition it deserves. 👏

After the plaque unveiling, head over to Spin Sounds on South Street to grab your very own signed album.

William Laven from Walton-on-Thames is inspiring the world one podcast episode at a time: His show, Stammer Stories, has been streamed over 200,000 times across 50+ countries, all with the mission of helping people embrace their uniqueness. “I used to see my stammer as a setback, but now I absolutely love it,” he says, proudly turning what once felt like a challenge into a strength. To mark International Stammering Awareness Day, William even recorded a speech at Woking's New Victoria Theatre, proving that stepping out of your comfort zone can be powerful, really impressive from William! 💪🌟

The Woking and Weybridge branch of Parkinson’s UK, which has been a lifeline for locals living with the condition, is facing possible closure unless it can find new volunteers: Despite high demand for its services, the group is struggling to fill key committee roles, including chair, secretary, and treasurer. Zoe Sole, local volunteer officer, emphasized just how important these roles are: “Our ability to provide this essential service hinges on the generosity and dedication of volunteers.” So, if you’ve got a little time to spare and a big heart, now’s your chance to make a real difference. Without new recruits, this crucial support network could be at risk—let’s not let that happen! Get involved here! 💙🙌

Station Road in Betchworth is off-limits this week due to emergency drainage works: A collapsed gully means Surrey Highways has had to close the road from the Betchworth roundabout to the level crossing. The closure is in place from Monday, October 21st, through to Sunday, October 27th, with teams working extended hours (7 AM to 11 PM!) to get everything sorted ASAP. So, if Station Road is your usual route to Betchworth Station or Tadworth, be sure to follow those diversion signs and plan ahead. Surrey Highways promises they’re moving as quickly as possible, but it looks like we’ll all need a little extra patience this week! 🚫🛠️
