Swan Lake at G Live: A Ballet for the Ages! 🦢

Nothing says Christmas like Swan Lake!

Ballet Del'Art brings a fresh take on the timeless classic, Swan Lake. This modern-day adaptation by renowned choreographer Lara Paraschiv blends the elegance of Tchaikovsky's iconic score with a 21st-century twist—while staying true to the ballet's classical roots.

Why this production is extra special: Ballet Del'Art was born out of resilience and hope, created in the aftermath of the war in Ukraine.

Will Surrey See a White Christmas? Probably Not! ❄️

Ah, the dream of waking up to a snowy wonderland on Christmas morning... It’s the stuff of Hallmark movies and cosy Instagram posts. But let’s be real—snow on Christmas Day in the South East is as rare as finding an empty parking space at The Friary in December.

According to the Met Office, a white Christmas only needs a single snowflake to fall anywhere in the UK on 25 December. (Yep, just one. Standards are low, but we’ll take it!)

Sadly, the forecast for Surrey is looking more cloudy than Christmassy this year:

• Saturday: Mild and windy, with temperatures well above average.

• Sunday: A brief cold snap—just enough to tease us—before high-pressure brings calm, dry, and slightly warmer conditions back for Christmas Day.

The last time the South East saw a proper white Christmas was in 2010, when snow covered Surrey, Sussex, and Kent. So unless Santa has a weather machine, we’re in for a mild, mostly dry, and cloudy holiday.

🌟 Bright side? No slippery pavements to ruin your new Christmas socks. Plus, we can all cozy up indoors and pretend it’s snowing while watching Home Alone.

A stretch of the A3 near junction 10 (M25) will be fully closed from 9 PM on 17 January to 6 AM on 20 January for the installation of the UK's first heathland green bridge: This eco-friendly marvel, part of a £317m improvement project, will connect wildlife habitats and offer safer pedestrian routes. Diversions will be in place, so plan ahead and pack some patience—because let’s face it, we’ve all been stuck in worse traffic on the M25! 🌳🚶

Two Victorian-era fingerposts in Ashford Common and Shepperton are standing tall once more, thanks to a stellar community effort: Crafted in Chertsey in 1900, the signposts were lovingly restored by local groups, including the Littleton Common Residents Association and Bridge Marine. Restoration leader Tracy Brown called them a “gift to our local community” just in time for Christmas! Next up? The team is aiming for listed status to protect these charming pieces of history for generations. 👏🎄

Drivers at Sunbury Cross Centre were targeted by three men posing as parking wardens, using a fake card machine to "swallow" credit cards: Police have issued a warning urging everyone to only pay via official ticket machines or the parking app. Stay vigilant and double-check before handing over your card—better safe than sorry! 🛑💳
