🌳 Music, Horses & The Greatest Show | 16th August

TOGETHER WITH

Good morning, Surrey. Simon here! This is Inspired Surrey, the only email you look forward to reading when you get back from holiday!

In today’s Inspired Surrey:

  • Music in the Meadow 🎶

  • Cirque is Coming to G Live in Guildford 🎩

  • Iberian Horse Show this Weekend 🐎

Let’s get to it.

Live Music: Music in the Meadow in Farnham this Sunday! 🎶

Continuing their season of fantastic music, Squeezebox will be performing at Gostrey Meadow in Farnham, for FREE, this Sunday (the 18th), from 3-5pm! 🥳

Don’t worry, I’ve checked the weather for you, it’s a little cloudy in the morning but it’ll be perfect in the afternoon, not too hot, a nice bit of sunshine for some live music.

Picnics are welcome, but there will also be refreshments available.

I’d recommend getting there a little bit early to ensure you can park up hassle-free.

There is also live music on the 25th of August and 1st of September. You can find all the details you need here.

Sorry, I couldn’t help myself….

But there’s an Iberian Horse Show in Guildford this weekend and after the Olympics, it’s only right we let you know about it! 🐴

There is an incredible lineup this year, starting with an enchanting opening where horses team up with their canine friends to kick things off.

You'll get to enjoy mini-demos showcasing the beauty of in-hand showing, the skill of working equitation, and the elegance of carriage driving.

Plus, don't miss the always glamorous course d’élégance class and a stunning display of advanced freestyle dressage to music!

The grand Parade Finale will feature 20 magnificent horses, all dressed in traditional Spanish and Portuguese attire - an absolute must-see!

There’s also a couple of fantastic special guests:

  • The Riders and Horse from BRAVO - the little horse that wanted to dance.

  • Singer/songwriter Laura Jeanne will also sing live.

Tickets are £20, its on Saturday starting at 5:45pm.

You can buy your ticket here, or on the night.

The Digest 🗞️😀

Walton Community Garden Grand opening on the 20th August: The newly refurbished Walton Community Garden is opening on August 20th from 3-5pm. The Walton Community Garden has transformed thanks to Safer Streets funding. This investment has helped create a safer and more welcoming space for local residents, there’s plant potting, pebble painting, giveaways, sports and more. 🌼🏡

The George and Dragon pub in Thames Ditton is now one to avoid: The pub has found itself in a pickle after receiving a hygiene rating of 1! A lack of soap at handwashing stations, cross-contamination risks, and poor staff training has contributed to the terrible score - definitely one to avoid until they get there act together. 🤢👎

Guildford Professor to conquer Ireland for dementia: Mark Saunders is about to take on an epic walk! He is walking the entire length of Ireland to raise money for dementia, 589 miles in just 40 days! Inspired by his father and grandfather who both lived with Alzheimer's disease - what a man! If you’d like to support Mark or learn more about his story, here is a link to his JustGiving page. 🚶🎗️
