Oktoberfest Returns to Guildford! 🎉🍻

Dust off your lederhosen and get ready to prost because Oktoberfest is back in Guildford!

After last year’s sold-out event, Oktoberfest Guildford returns on Saturday, October 12th, 2024, at Stoke Park for another weekend of Bavarian fun!

Step into the giant Bier tent, grab your 2-pint stein, and prepare for a party packed with foot-stomping, hearty singing, and all the Oompah band you can handle.

Sunbury residents are speaking out as the planning appeal for a controversial retirement village on former landfill land continues: The luxury senior living development, proposed by Inspired Villages for green belt land near Vicarage Road, was originally rejected by Spelthorne Borough Council, but the fight isn't over. With concerns about disturbing contaminated landfill material and already-strained local health services, residents and councillors are skeptical. "Sunbury’s health care is bursting, and this just adds more pressure," said Councillor Harry Boparai. Many are also questioning who this development really serves, with local campaigners arguing that affordable housing and better infrastructure should take priority over high-end retirement homes with sky-high price tags. 🏘️⚠️

The £6m makeover of the Royal Surrey’s Cancer Centre is already making a massive difference, and it’s not just about fancy new rooms: Treating around 8,000 patients a year, the revamped centre in Guildford is a game changer. Patients like John Bennetts, who’s been in remission for over four years, are raving about it: “The improvements have made a huge psychological difference to me and many others.” From bigger, brighter waiting areas to a private garden and extra clinic space, the new centre is designed with patients in mind. And, with more room for treatment, early diagnosis, and life-saving care, it's more than just bricks and mortar – it’s about hope and healing. Boogietown, the popular festival celebrating disco, funk, and soul, is making its return to Apps Court in Walton-On-Thames on Saturday, 12th July 2024: The single-day event will feature performances across four stages, showcasing a mix of iconic performers and DJs. Known for its lively atmosphere and sense of community, Boogietown has become a must-attend for music lovers. Tickets, starting at £39.50, go on sale this Friday at 9 AM, with payment plans available. Festivalgoers can secure their spot with a £10 deposit, spreading the remaining cost over three monthly payments - I know this is a popular one, so it’s great news its back!! 🕺💃
