The Digest 🗞️😀

After months of disruption caused by a fuel leak into the village water supply, Bramley residents are finally getting some relief: A hefty £512,000 from supermarket giant Asda! The leak, which led to a "no drinking the tap water" ban from May to July for over 600 homes, had been a headache for two years, with complaints of a lingering fuel smell. But now, thanks to the hard work of the local community and council, the money will go towards festive new Christmas lights, a playground renovation, and a contribution to the village bonfire, I think Asda got off lightly personally!

Dorking is set to slow things down, with Surrey County Council announcing plans for a 20mph speed limit in the northern part of the town centre, rolling out by autumn 2025: This move is part of SCC’s broader effort to create safer, more “liveable” streets across the county, especially in areas near schools and transport links. With a focus on reducing accidents and promoting walking, cycling, and general active living, the new limit is designed to make Dorking a healthier, more eco-friendly place. Consultation with residents is on the way, but funding is already secured. 🚗💨

This weekend, police will be escorting some oversized loads—pods for a new community hospital—through the county: The convoys will be travelling from Northumberland and making their way down the A1, M1, and M25, with a final stop at Woking Community Hospital. Expect some brief traffic disruptions, especially in the Woking one-way system, as the wide loads maneuver through town on Saturday, 12 October, and Sunday, 13 October. While the disruption will be kept to a minimum, it's a good idea to plan your journey accordingly. 👷‍♂️🚚
