Meet Socks – A Playful Pup Looking for a Forever Home! 🏡🐶

Adventurous, energetic, and full of love—Socks, a Lurcher crossbreed, is ready to find his forever family! After a rough start, being dumped with his littermates, this brown and tan bundle of joy is looking for a home where he can get plenty of attention, training, and playtime.
At just 3-6 months old, Socks is almost housetrained, great with other dogs, and would love a family where someone is home most of the time. He’s best suited to a home without cats but could happily live with older children.

Surrey Half Marathon Returns to Woking This Sunday!

The Surrey Half Marathon is back on Sunday, bringing thousands of participants to the streets of Woking and the surrounding countryside.
Alongside the 13.1-mile main event, there will be a 5K and 2K race for younger runners, plus live music and entertainment to keep the energy high.
Matt Wood, co-founder of RunThrough, says the race continues to grow each year, showcasing incredible performances while making a positive impact on the local community.
Be aware that road closures will be in place from 8:30 AM to 1:00 PM, so plan ahead if you're travelling.
Whether you're racing, cheering, or just soaking in the atmosphere, this promises to be a fantastic day of fitness, fun, and community spirit! 🏅🎶

The Digest 🗞️😀
Woking’s much-loved jungle-themed play area at Woking Park is getting a well-deserved makeover: Due to ongoing drainage and resurfacing works, the play area will be closed from Monday, 17th March, until the week of 7th April 2025. Over the years, rainwater runoff has caused erosion, making footpaths uneven and muddy—so the council is stepping in with new gullies, improved drainage, and fresh resurfacing to keep it safe and fun for years to come. Funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, these upgrades will also help fix waterlogging issues that have made some play equipment unusable. While the timing isn’t ideal with the school holidays, the good news is that the play area will be back open just in time for Easter! 🛝☀️
A 43-hectare housing development at Hersham Golf Club has been approved, despite 800 objections from locals concerned about losing countryside views: The plans will see 57 houses and 164 apartments built on the former golf course, alongside a GP surgery, café, play areas, and a new country park. While half of the homes will be classed as affordable, critics argue the project compromises the green belt and sets a worrying precedent for future developments. Councillor John O’Reilly called it a major loss for the area, while planning officials insist it won’t impact Surrey’s green belt openness. Love it or hate it, the bulldozers will be moving in soon! 🚜🏗️
Parents are rallying behind Star Player, a football camp in Spelthorne for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), after concerns that temporary funding from Surrey County Council (SCC) may not continue: Described as a "lifeline" for families, the camp provides a safe, structured environment where children can build confidence, social skills, and independence—all while having fun. Spelthorne MP Lincoln Jopp, who visited the camp, was “hugely impressed” and is pushing for long-term funding. Parents like Sheena and Roisin Kennedy say the camp has been a game changer, finally offering their children a place where they feel included. With demand high and waiting lists elsewhere, supporters are urging SCC to secure funding and keep this vital program running! ⚽💙
