🌳 Snow White On Ice, Starlight Walk, What's On & The Wordle | 8th December
Good morning, Surrey! Simon here. This is Inspired Surrey, don’t forget one of the most important days this December, no, it’s not the big day.. It’s Christmas Jumper Day this Thursday! We can’t wait to see your jumpers - make sure to tag us on Instagram! 🎅
In today’s Inspired Surrey:
Snow White on Ice ⛸️
Starlight Christmas Walk 🌟
The World-Famous Monday Wordle 🧠
What’s on Guide for this week 📅
Let’s get to it.

Snow White on Ice – A Christmas Show at Guildford Spectrum ❄️⛸️

🗓️ Friday 12 – Sunday 14 December 2025
📍 Guildford Spectrum Ice Rink
🎟️ Adults £22 | Juniors £17 | Concessions £17 | Family (4) £68
💡 Friday matinee deal: Adults £11 | Juniors & concessions £10 | Family £40
If you’re after a festive treat for the kids that doesn’t involve another screen, Snow White on Ice is a lovely one to have on your list. It’s running across three days at Guildford Spectrum, with a mix of matinee and evening shows, so you can fit it around school, naps, or that all-important mince pie break.
This version of Snow White is told through skating, music, and storytelling, with performers from Spectrum Ice School (the biggest in the UK). Expect bright costumes, big group routines, and plenty of familiar moments from the story — just with more spins and sparkles.
It’s a proper community show with a big cast, and the rink is turned into a winter setting with lighting and sound to match.
Show times
• Friday: 12pm & 7pm
• Saturday: 11am, 3pm & 7pm
• Sunday: 1pm & 5pm
There are standard seats or on-ice grandstand seats if you want to be closer to the action, and group discounts if you’re going with a big gang. Babies under 18 months can sit on laps without a ticket; everyone else will need one.
Worth knowing: public skating pauses for the show weekend and restarts on Monday 15 December.
It’s a relaxed, family-friendly way to start the Christmas season and a nice change from the usual cinema trip.

Starlight Walk at Rowhill Nature Reserve – A Simple, Lovely Christmas Evening 🌟✨

🗓️ Sunday 14 December 2025, 3:30–5:30pm
📍 Rowhill Nature Reserve (between Aldershot & Farnham)
🎟️ £2 per person (cash or card)
If you’re after something gentle and festive to do with the kids (that doesn’t involve queues), the Starlight Walk at Rowhill Nature Reserve is a really sweet one. You’ll follow a self-guided trail through the copse, lit with fairy lights, helping Santa track down his missing reindeer along the way.
It’s relaxed, outdoors, and designed for families — with little games along the route and a warm drink waiting at the end. Think wellies, torches, and that early-evening December glow rather than anything loud or hectic.
Even better, there’s a Christmas Fair from 3pm on the same day, so you can head down early, browse a few stalls, and then set off on the walk as it starts to get dark.
Good to know:
Bring a torch
Wear sensible footwear
Suitable for “children up to 99” (their words – we like it)
Hot drinks and light refreshments available after the walk
It’s simple, affordable, and exactly the kind of local event that makes December feel properly Christmassy.

The Digest 🗞️😀
Guildford’s own Bill and Olive Miles have just celebrated an incredible 73 years of marriage, marking each anniversary with a visit to Guildford Cathedral, where they first tied the knot back in 1952. Now aged 95 and 93, the pair met as teenagers at a youth club and say they’ve never properly fallen out. From globe‑trotting adventures to ballroom dancing at Butlins, they’ve lived a full life side by side and even renewed their vows twice along the way. “I went with one boyfriend and came back with another,” Olive jokes, “and I’ve still got the same one.” ❤️💃
The Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford is asking patients and visitors to wear face masks in its A&E department as a temporary safety measure, following a sharp rise in flu and respiratory infections. With experts warning of a more severe strain circulating and flu admissions already at record levels for this time of year, the hospital says masks will help protect patients, visitors, and staff. Free masks are available at the entrance, and anyone unable to wear one is advised to let staff know. 🏥🦠
Guildford’s long-awaited North Street regeneration has taken another step forward, with councillors approving a fresh batch of changes — but not without some serious grumbles. The latest tweaks include an extra storey on one block and a raft of adjustments to meet new fire safety rules. But several councillors weren’t impressed, calling the new look “monolithic,” “top heavy,” and a “significant reduction in quality.” Despite those concerns, the revised plans were passed, bringing the total homes up to 479 and still promising a new bus station, public squares, shops, and pedestrianised streets. Now it's a question of whether the final result will feel like a win for the town — or a missed opportunity. 🏘️🛣️

Weather
Monday
12° 🌡️ 6° | 🌧️💨 | The week kicks off with a damp and blustery feel, rain and gusty wind likely through the day. Highs around 12 °C, dipping to about 6 °C overnight. It’ll be a soggy start, so waterproofs and maybe a wind-proof layer are the order of the day.
Tuesday
11° 🌡️ 4° | 🌦️ | Showery and a bit unsettled, but with brighter bits likely too. Some scattered rain or drizzle, but also potential dry spells or light sunshine later on. High about 11 °C, overnight toward 4 °C. A decent day for a quick errand, just keep the umbrella handy.
Wednesday
10° 🌡️ 5° | 🌤️ | Probably the nicest day of the week, a mix of sunshine and lighter skies, with only a small chance of a passing shower. Highs near 10 °C, lows around 5 °C. A good day to catch a breath of fresh air (well wrapped up, of course).
Thursday
10° 🌡️ 5° | 🌧️💨 | The weather takes another turn: cloud thickening up again, rain arriving later, and winds picking up. High around 10 °C. Might be one to avoid for outdoor plans, better for indoor Christmas prep and make sure you get that Christmas jumper on!
Friday
10° 🌡️ 7° | ☁️ | Closing the week on a grey but milder note. Likely overcast, maybe some drizzle, but no major downpours expected. Highs near 10 °C, overnight around 7 °C. A dry(ish) end to the week!

Thank you! 👍
