Spring Is Here! Surrey Hills Spring Fair at the Rural Life Living Museum! 🌼

Ready to kick winter to the curb? This charming little fair is the perfect way to welcome in the sunshine (or at least cross your fingers for it).
Happening on Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th April, the Surrey Hills Spring Fair is basically a love letter to everything we adore about spring in the countryside—local food, proper crafts, live music, woodland vibes, and the best bits of Surrey all in one place.
Set at the Rural Life Living Museum in Tilford (yes, the one that feels like stepping back in time), it’s a weekend full of fresh air, artisan goodies, and wholesome fun. If you’re into quaint stalls, handmade treasures, and maybe a cheeky sausage roll while you browse—this is your scene.
Why You’ll Love It:
🧺 Local foodie heaven – from gooey bakes to farm-fresh treats, you won’t go hungry.
🎶 Live music for that laid-back, picnic-in-the-field vibe.
🎨 Crafts, demos & art – watch talented locals do their thing (and maybe try a bit yourself).
🌲 Outdoor woodland activities to entertain the kiddos (and tire them out, let’s be honest).
🛍️ Meet the makers – chat to real artisans, discover one-of-a-kind gifts, and support local legends.
Event Details:
📍 Rural Life Living Museum, Reeds Rd, Tilford, Farnham GU10 2DL
📅 Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th April
🕙 Usually open 10am–5pm (keep an eye on the website for final timings)
🎟️ Tickets and more info: Surrey Hills Enterprises Website
🚗 Free parking on-site
👣 Dog-friendly (just keep them on a lead!)
🍃 Wear your wellies or comfy shoes—rural charm = grassy paths
So, whether you’re after a laid-back day with friends, a springy family outing, or just want to nosy around some handmade candles and call it “supporting local”—this one’s worth the detour.
🌸 Bonus tip: The Rural Life café does a cracking cuppa and a slice of something sweet. Refuel in style.

Box Hill Named One of the UK’s Best Spring Walks – Obviously 🥾

We’ve been telling people for years—Surrey’s a stunner. And now, the rest of the UK is finally catching on.
Our very own Box Hill just got a glowing shout-out in The Telegraph’s list of Top 10 Spring Walks in Britain. Yep, we’re rubbing shoulders with Seven Sisters and the Lake District now.
🌿 Why the fuss?
Well, for starters, Box Hill is ridiculously easy to get to, but once you’re up on those trails, all your London stress just melts away faster than a Solero in July. Views? Gorgeous. Wildlife? Amazing. Vibe? Peaceful.
The National Trust offers eight lovely walking routes in the area—from the family-friendly Natural Play Trail to the leg-burning Box Hill Hike (bring snacks... and knees of steel).
✨ Springtime Highlights:
🌸 Blooming flowers and fresh green everything
🐦 Birdsong and bonus wildlife sightings
🐣 Easter Egg Hunt from April 5–21 (£3.50 – bargain!)
🍰 National Trust café for post-hike refuelling
📚 Bookshop, toilets, and good parking
🚶♀️ Feeling brave? Try the Box Hill Hike:
8 miles, steep climbs, deep valleys, plenty of steps, and even more spectacular views. It’ll take 4–6 hours, so maybe not right after brunch.
📍 Getting there:
🚂 Half a mile from Box Hill & Westhumble station
🚗 5 mins from the M25 (Junction 9)
🅿️ National Trust car park on-site
So if your soul’s been crying out for fresh air and countryside magic, Box Hill’s calling—and now it’s got national acclaim to prove it.

The Digest 🗞️😀
After four years of careful restoration, Guildford’s iconic 17th-century Guildford House is officially back to its former glory! 🏛️ Originally built in 1660 for a local lawyer-turned-mayor, the Grade I-listed gem on the High Street now houses the Guildford House Gallery, a gift shop, and the tourist info centre. The project brought historic features back to life—like beautifully detailed window trims hiding under decades of paint—while tackling serious structural repairs too. Pop in for a peek (it’s free!) and soak up some local history while you're at it. 🖼️
Surrey just got a serious upgrade in surgical care with the official opening of the brand-new Surrey Surgical Centre at Ashford Hospital: This state-of-the-art orthopaedic hub—born from a team-up between local hospital trusts and the care board—boasts two sparkling new theatres, meaning more capacity for much-needed procedures like hip and knee replacements. The goal? Slash waiting times and get patients back on their feet faster. Teamwork makes the medical dream work! 🏥🦵
Woking’s on-again, off-again road drama rolls on, as Victoria Way is now set to stay closed until late April, according to the council: The road has faced a string of issues since 2021—mostly due to cladding panels falling from the Hilton hotel—and now a delayed equipment delivery from Germany has pushed things back even further. Council leader Ann-Marie Barker says she understands the frustration but insists the closure is about keeping people safe. Local traders, however, say it’s costing them dearly. 🛑🚧
