Ever dreamt of raising a future hero? Surrey Police is on the hunt for puppy minders to care for adorable German shepherds, labradors, and spaniels during their early months. From eight weeks old until around 15 months, you'll give these potential police pups a loving home while they prepare for their incredible careers.
No experience? No problem! The Police Dog Training School offers plenty of support along the way. These puppies can live with children and other pets (as long as everyone’s on board with puppy chaos!). Yes, saying goodbye might be bittersweet, but knowing the impact these dogs will have makes it all worthwhile.
🐶 Interested? Email [email protected] to apply and become part of their incredible journey! 💙✨

The Digest 🗞️😀
Lee Street in Horley turned into an unwelcome waterway this week, as a pump failure at Thames Water's sewage treatment works left gardens and streets submerged: Steve Pelham, a local resident, described the grim scene of wading through water to leave his property, with fears mounting over potential sewage contamination. This isn’t the first time – a similar incident in 2019 left the area flooded. Thames Water has apologized, promising clean-up efforts and future upgrades, but locals, including councillor Steve Wotton, are demanding action now to prevent further soggy disasters - take a look at the pictures! 🌊⛔
After its first attempt was likened to "an alien spaceship" and shot down by Elmbridge Borough Council, Aldi is trying again to open a store in Thames Ditton: The new proposal for the Portsmouth Road site (formerly Guy Salmon Jaguar Land Rover showroom) promises a more traditional design, shorter height, and extra greenery to charm the locals. Aldi is hosting a public consultation at Dittons Library on 9th December from 3–7 PM, so if you’ve got thoughts—whether you're Team Bargains or Team Preserve-the-Pub-View—now’s the time to share them. 🚀🌳
The Home Energy Improvement One-Stop Shop is here to help you transform your home into an energy-efficient haven: Backed by Surrey County Council and home energy specialists Furbnow, this innovative scheme offers expert guidance, trusted installers, and potential discounts on upgrades like insulation, solar panels, and air source heat pumps. With over 300,000 homes in Surrey rated D or worse for energy efficiency—and residential energy responsible for 30% of the county’s carbon emissions—this initiative is a game-changer for cutting costs and carbon. The first 245 homes even get a subsidised Whole Home Energy Plan, complete with a personalised roadmap and savings projections - learn more here. 🌿♻️
