Godstone’s mysterious sinkhole saga just got a bit more… Victorian: Engineers repairing the massive collapse on Godstone High Street have unearthed a hidden labyrinth of 26ft-deep sand mining tunnels dating back to the 1800s—possibly explaining February’s dramatic road cave-in. While Surrey County Council aims to reopen the road by December, local business owners say they’re being kept in the dark and are seriously struggling, with footfall “virtually zero” and income down up to 70%. Let's hope they tunnel their way to a solution soon. 🕳️🛠️

Surrey’s wild side is getting a futuristic helping hand from artificial intelligence: A new project called Space4Nature, led by Surrey Wildlife Trust and the University of Surrey, is training AI to help map and protect our precious landscapes. Volunteers are heading out to places like Puttenham Common to record plant species, feeding data into a model that will use satellite images to spot similar habitats nearby. It's a clever blend of nature walks and cutting-edge tech, all aimed at preserving the county’s most vital ecosystems. 🌿🤖

Surrey hospitals are getting a well-needed facelift, with nearly £67 million in government funding heading to NHS sites across the South East: Locally, Royal Surrey, Haslemere, Milford and St Peter’s in Chertsey will share £6.1 million for vital upgrades like roof repairs and equipment improvements. East Surrey Hospital also gets £2.9 million, and Frimley Park is in line for over £10 million as part of a wider rebuild plan. It’s all part of a national effort to fix leaky roofs, dodgy wiring and improve patient safety. 🏥🔧
