Where Were We Wednesday! 📸
It was a good one this week wasn’t it!
How did you get on? We were in Guildford, specifically near the St Nicolas Parish Church and The White House pub, Alice and the White Rabbit are just down Millmead, I had no idea it was there until recently!
It was created by local sculptor Edwin Russell in 1984. It depicts the book’s famous beginning, in which Alice follows a talking rabbit into a hole, leaving her older sister behind. The girl figures were modelled after the daughters of Russell’s friend, and the rabbit’s model was chosen from 500 white rabbits from a local farm.

The Digest 🗞️😀
If you're planning to hit the roads this weekend, be prepared for more slip road closures at the M25/A3 junction (aka Junction 10): While the main carriageways will stay open, you won’t be able to join or leave either road at this spot from 10pm Thursday to 5:30am Friday, and then again from 9pm Friday to 6am Monday. This is the second of three weekends of planned closures, all part of a massive £317 million project to expand the junction. And don’t forget—if your route involves a diversion, make sure you’re steering clear of those ULEZ zones unless you fancy a fine! (Older vehicles, we’re looking at you! 👀) More details and diversion routes are up on the National Highways website. 🚙🗺️
Small businesses in Surrey are getting a helping hand to go green, thanks to a new initiative from Surrey County Council and six borough councils: The scheme offers free decarbonisation assessments, loans, and courses to help local SMEs cut energy costs and reduce their carbon footprint. With over £1.9 million in funding already dished out through similar projects, it’s clear businesses are eager to be future-ready. So, if you’re looking to save money and do your bit for the planet, now’s your chance to get involved! Read more about the initiative here.🌱💡
Plans for THE HOPP - set to be Europe’s largest indoor pickleball and padel club, have been given the green light, and it's coming to Farnham: Thanks to local champions Sally Grace and Andre Strachan, who’ve already made waves by winning the 45+ mixed doubles at the English Open, this £2.5 million project is officially a go! With 10 indoor pickleball courts and four for padel, plus luxury social spaces and expert coaching, this 57,600 ft² venue will open its doors by mid-2025. Sally and Andre’s goal? To make pickleball and padel the go-to sports in the community, no matter your age or skill level. “PLAY TODAY PLAY FOREVER,” as they say, and we’re all for it! 🎾👏
